October 8, 2017 by Alison Page

Lily and Graeme are on holiday from 6th to 20th October.  Please contact Ian Watt, 600 382, for any pastoral assistance.

The Singing Group will NOT meet the following two Wednesdays as Lily and Graeme are on holiday.  We will resume 25th October.

Advance notice: Aileen’s Setting Apart service takes place in church on Saturday 4th November at 2pm.  Presbytery members will be present and the Presbytery Moderator will stay overnight to conduct worship on Sunday 5th November.

Knit & Natter – Festive patterns are now available for anyone wishing to participate in the Christmas fundraising campaign. Starting on 6th October for six weeks, the K&N Nutters will gather in the lounge at Trust Housing in McKelvie Road on Friday mornings between 10.30 – 12 noon. Please pop in for a blether with some of the folks who live there – even if it’s just to pick up wool and to say hello.

Save the date – Sunday the 26th of November at 2:00 – 3:30 in Lamlash Church Hall. Come and join our Singalong and Fundraising sale of knitted festive goodies for Mary’s Meals.

The Blythswood 2017 Shoebox appeal is well underway. Leaflets are available in the vestibule.  If you are able to donate single items could these please be brought by Sunday 21st October. Please remember any contributions would be gratefully received even if you are not able to fill a box.  A box is in the vestibule to collect your donations. The full details are included in our Autumn Newsletter.

For the past 15 years David Oakes has looked after hall bookings. David now wishes stand down from this, and we thank him most sincerely for the work he has done in this area of the church’s life.     We are looking for a successor, and if anyone thinks they may be interested in helping with this should contact David, Lily or Ian Watt.

The old £1 coins become illegal tender on 15th October, but they will still be accepted by the banks for a short time after this date.  The Kirk Session thought It would be a good idea, and very much appreciated. Thank you in anticipation.
