The Dedication of the Guild forms part of our worship today.
The Guild’s first meeting will be on Tuesday 24th October in the church hall at 2 pm. All are welcome (including men!) The speaker will be Aileen Brookens on the Guild theme – Be bold! Be strong! Go in love. It would be great to see you there. Come along and expect the unexpected!
The Kirk Session will meet on Wednesday 25th October at 2.30pm to hear a report from those who attended the Path of Renewal Conference in preparation for the Kirk Session meeting on Friday 27th October at 2pm with the Renewal organisers, to discuss our response. These are important meetings, and a large attendance is hoped for.
We were saddened to hear that Gwen Turner passed away last week. The thanksgiving service celebrating Gwen’s life will be held in church on Tuesday 24th October at 11.30am. This will be followed by the committal at Kilmory Cemetery. Please remember Jo and the rest of the family in your prayers.
On Friday we celebrate the life of Frederick George Marriott who passed away last week. The funeral service will be held in church on Friday 27th October at 11.30am. Please remember the family in your prayers.
The Faith Development Group are just beginning an exploration of the Gospel of Luke. We are using Geared for Growth – a booklet which gives a daily reading and a couple of questions. There is an opportunity for anyone to share their responses at the group meeting or to simply listen to others. If you would like a booklet please speak to Lily. We meet next at 2pm on Tuesday October 31st at 68 Murray Crescent.
The Singing Group will meet this Wednesday on 25th October at 4pm.
Advance notice: Aileen’s Setting Apart service takes place in church on Saturday 4th November at 2.15pm. Presbytery members meet at 1.45 in the hall. The service will be led by the Rev Angus Adamson, the Rev David Watson and the Rev Lily McKinnon. Tea will be served in the hall following the service. The Presbytery Moderator will stay overnight to conduct worship in both congregations on Sunday 5th November.
The Knit & Natter folks meet in the lounge at Trust Homes, McKelvie Road on Friday morning 10:30 – 12 noon. Knitters of all abilities are most welcome to join us. Wool and patterns provided.Transport can also be arranged. Contact Alison Tel: 600963

The Blythswood 2017 Shoebox appeal well underway. Leaflets are available in the vestibule. If you are able to donate single items these should be in by today and filled boxes need to be here by next Sunday 29th October. Please remember any contributions would be gratefully received even if you are not able to fill a box. A box is in the vestibule to collect your donations. The full details are included in our Autumn Newsletter. Any articles for inclusion in the Winter Newsletter should be with the Editor as soon as possible and no later than Sunday 5th of November. We are still seeking a new editor to give Alison a well-earned rest. Please speak to Ian, Alison or Lily about this.
