Christian Aid envelopes must finally be given to Vivienne Haig today
Christian Aid Petition: There is a Christian Aid Petition to sign, which will be delivered to the Prime Minister and the First Minister, asking that they join us in overcoming division, and in upholding our proud tradition as a nation that stands up for those in desperate need, wherever they are in the world. The petition can be signed at the door.
David Oakes would like to have a few more helpers to be placed on the Open Church duty rota; this would make the rota a bit more flexible. If you want any more details, please speak to David.
There will be a Coffee Morning in the church hall (behind the church) on Wednesday from 10-15 to 12 noon. All are welcome to come along for a ” cuppa “, and a chat with friends old and new. There will be the usual stalls. This Coffee Morning is in aid of Save the Children.
Church fete is on Saturday 27th May 2pm – 4pm. There will be stalls and tea room in the hall, on the green – races and rope quoits, children’s Treasure Hunt in the church, bell ringing tune requests in church vestibule and ‘winner takes half’ envelopes, Tin Can Alley and Wet Sponge Challenge in gazebo, Face Painting. Stalls to date are children Decorating Biscuits, Silent Auction of Promises, Tombola, Bottles, Home Baking, Books, Jewellery, Cards. ice cream will be on sale.
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help but we need more people!
Please speak to Ian or Lily TODAY if you can help with setting up, manning a stall, supervising children in church, donations of baking for stall and tearoom, tombola gifts of no less than £1, bottles, prizes for raffle and for children’s events.
To get you in the mood, there are envelopes available today – put your £1 in and write your name on the envelope. At the end of the day of the fete, one envelope is drawn and the winner splits the other envelopes 50/50 with the church!
Today, there is also a sheet for you to request a tune on the bells; this sheet will also be available at the fete. – pay later!
Please tell absolutely EVERYBODY about the fete! We want it to be fun as well as financially beneficial! You even get the chance to pelt the minister with a wet sponge so come along and have a go! See you there!
Faith Development Group meets Tuesday 23rd May 2pm at the manse. This will be our last meeting until after the summer but we will continue our prayers!
The Singing Group meets on Wednesday 17th May in the church hall at 4pm. Come along and exercise your vocal cords once again!
The ‘Bus Pass’ Lunch Club is every Wednesday 12 – 2.30 in the PHT. Please consider coming along and being part of our community outreach while enjoying your free soup. Many people don’t come to church so church is going to them! Spare a lunch time to meet and chat with others.
Weighing in for Mary’s Meals. Arran Skinnymalinks – everyone is invited to come along and stand on Alison’s scales at 5pm on a Wednesday. A £15 donation is requested to participate in this 6 week summer programme, to feed starving children in a place of education for a school year.
There is also the opportunity to bring along food or toiletry donations in support of the Arran Churches Together Foodbank hosted in Brodick Church.
