Good morning, and welcome to our service today. A warm welcome to all visitors. We hope you enjoy your time with us, and please take our good wishes back to your own congregation on your return home. May each one of us know God’s blessing as we worship together. We are very pleased to welcome Mrs Sharon MacLeod to lead our worship.
There will be no Coffee Morning this Wednesday, due the Farmers’ Show.
From: Gordon Macleod (Trainee Priest on Placement with the Scottish Episcopal Church) :
We invite people to join us in the Footsteps of the Ancient Saints.
Follow the life of St Molaise and rediscover Celtic spirituality by joining us on a short Modern-Day Ecumenical Pilgrimage Walk, across the Ross Road from Sliddery to Lamlash on Friday 9 August.
All are welcome to this event, which is open to anyone of a religious faith, or none.
We will meet at the War Monument in Sliddery at 10am beside the junction of the Ross Road and walk towards Lamlash. There is no set timescale for the walk, but as it is over ten miles and the road is quite hilly, we anticipate a walk of around four to six hours.
On the Sunday 11 August at 11am, we invite those who joined us on the walk to our service at St Margaret’s Scottish Episcopal Church in Whiting Bay, and (subject to weather and tide conditions) on the morning of Monday 12 August at 10am, we will take the Holy Isle Ferry from Lamlash, across to Holy Isle.
From there, we will walk to St Molaise’s Cave near the shore, which is the final destination of our Pilgrimage. We will hold a short ecumenical service at the entrance to St Molaise’s cave.
The only requirements on each day, (excluding the Sunday), is that you bring your own packed lunch and arrange your own transport back to your respective island destinations. The Holy Island ferry fare is £12 return for adults and £6 for children. A parent or guardian should join any younger people undertaking the walks.
